The UFIXIT TM repair kit comes complete with detailed instructions and everything you need to repair a damaged windscreen in as little as 20 minutes.
UFIXIT TM works best on small round damages no larger than a 30mm in diameter and cracks no longer than 100 mm in length. The UFIXIT TM DIY repair kit's patented applicator allows the kit to be used for multiple repairs, with the resin bottle lasting up to 5 years once opened.
Step 1: Preparation For best results, repair damage as soon as possible after damage occurs. Wipe away dirt and dust with a paper towel. The windscreen should be shaded from direct sunlight until the entire repair is complete. Never attempt a repair in direct sunlight as the resin will cure before the repair is fully completed. Use the enclosed razor blade to cut off the tip of the resin bottle (cut off only the rounded tip of the thin end of the repair resin bottle). Attention: Do not attempt to clean out damage with any liquid cleaners or chemicals (e.g. Acetones, Metho, Window Cleaner etc...) as this will contaminate the damage and may cause the damage to still be slightly visible after the repair.
Step 2: Centring the applicator base over impact point.
Remove loose glass fragments by scraping over it with the razor blade.
Affix the applicator base to the windscreen.
Make sure the centre ring is centred above the impact point and the suction cups are firmly attached to the windscreen. Do not allow the suction cups to cover any cracks extending from the central impact point.
Step 3: Screw resin chamber into centre ring.
Screw the resin chamber into the centre ring. If necessary re-manoeuvre the device so the rubber mouth will be directly on top of the point of impact. Check the alignment from inside the car vehicle.
Screw down the resin chamber (turning clockwise) so the rubber mouth is flat against the windscreen in complete, but gentle, contact with the glass.
Attention: Too much pressure will compact the air void in the chip and make it harder to inject the repair resin into the chip, affecting the flow of the repair resin and effectiveness of the repair.
Step 4: Squeeze resin into resin chamber.
Squeeze 3-6 drops of the repair resin (depending on the extent of the damage) into the resin chamber mounted on the windscreen. If the resin leaks out the bottom of the resin chamber gently turn the resin chamber clockwise, just enough to prevent leakage.
Caution: Be careful not to get any repair resin on vehicles paint work as staining may occur.
Step 5: Screw pressure driver into resin chamber.
Screw the pressure driver (clockwise) into the resin chamber to drive the resin into the break. Tighten until the pressure driver is almost screwed all the way in.
Check from inside the vehicle to make sure the rubber mouth has opened wide. Allow the repair resin time to be absorbed into the break (10-15 minutes depending on the extent of damage).
If the repair resin has not reached all areas of the break, you may apply heat on the inside of the windscreen for 5-10 seconds with a cigarette lighter or hair dryer (not included) to expand the glass to allow resin to penetrate easier into the break. Allow 5 minutes for the windscreen to cool down before proceeding any further. Use caution when applying heat as excessive heat may cause further damage. Slightly re-tighten the pressure driver (about one quarter turn) to push the repair resin further into the break.
Attention: If the rubber mouth hasn’t opened, you will need to remove pressure driver and add 1 - 2 more drops of repair resin. Reinsert pressure driver and repeat step 5.
Step 6: Unscrew and remove pressure driver.
Unscrew and remove the pressure driver from the resin chamber to release any air trapped in the chamber. Re-insert the pressure driver and screw down again to displace any air remaining in the break, look at the glass form an angle about 45 degrees. Make sure no air bubbles remain in the break. In the case of chips or bulls eyes, examine the glass form directly behind the damaged area. Unrepaired areas will appear as dark green or black) areas. If there is any damage still visible, repeat steps 5 and 6 until satisfactory results are achieved. Make sure there is enough repair resin remaining in the resin chamber. If necessary, add more repair resin.
Most repairs will take 45-60 minutes. Do not proceed to step 7 until all air is removed. This may take longer on certain repairs.
Attention: The air in the glass will appear dark in colour. If there is any air remaining in the damaged area, after the repair device has been removed, repeat procedure from Step 1 to Step 6 again until clear. Do not proceed to step 7 as the air will be permanently trapped in the glass and the damage will remain visible.
Step 7: Remove Apparatus, touch-up, apply curing strips.
After the air has been removed, turn the resin chamber and pressure driver together half a turn to the left (counter-clockwise).
Remove the entire apparatus by lifting up on the small tabs on the suction cups. Gently wipe away excess repair resin from the applicator so it does not drip down the windscreen.
When applying the curing strips to the repair, no pressure is necessary, on the outside of the strip, gently place the strips on the glass.
Step 8: Expose to sunlight, wait, scrape off excess resin.
When the entire application procedure is complete, move the vehicle (windscreen) into direct sunlight or use an ultraviolet light (not included).
Allow the repair resin to cure completely (about 5-10 minutes), then remove the curing strip(s). If the repair resin is still wet under the strips, leave the strips in place until the repair resin is dry. Scrape away the hardened excess resin with the razor blade.
Hold the razor blade at a 90 degree angle to the windscreen when scraping for best results. It is not necessary to be gentle when scraping. Scrape until the hardened resin comes off in white flakes. If a blemish still remains at the impact point, apply a small drop of the repair resin directly to the chip. Cover the area with a curing strip and scrape over top of strip with razor blade to force resin into the chip. This should leave the repair resin in the remaining blemish only. When this cures carefully scrape hardened repair resin from all areas except the impact point.
If the impact point is still noticeable
TIP 1: Add a very small amount repair resin to impact point on the end of a toothpick and cover with curing strip.
Be careful not to apply any pressure to curing strip. If the resin spreads and becomes too large, clean windscreen and repeat with less resin, when the desired amount of resin is covered expose the windscreen to direct sunlight or UV light again. Remove the curing strip but don’t scrape off the excess.
TIP 2: Add a few drops of repair resin directly to the impact point and quickly cover with the curing strip. Then expose to direct sunlight. When the resin starts to harden, but is still soft and tacky (after 1 - 2 minutes) scrape off excess resin holding razor on less of an angle and applying less pressure.
This should remove repair resin without scratching the remaining top layer of resin causing it to turn a whitish colour. Then reapply the curing strip and expose to sunlight to harden the remaining resin. Once hardened do not scrape off the excess resin.
Can I fix a Crack with UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair Kit?
Yes, there is enough resin in each kit to fix a very long crack. Cracks as long as 30cm have been fixed using one packet resin. Plus, once the repair is complete, it will stop the crack from spreading any further.
Can I get a bottle of Windscreen Repair resin separately?
No. At this stage it is not economical to get the resin made separately. We are however looking into other manufacturing options to make this available in the near future.
How do I clean up the repair kit applicator after use?
The easiest method for cleaning the applicator is to screw the plunger (pressure driver) all of the way into the resin chamber forcing as much resin as possible out of the rubber mouth. Wipe down the outside of the applicator with a clean cloth and store all the pieces of the UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair Kit™ together. The resin bottle will last up to 5 years once opened, and any resin left in the applicator will never harden, as it needs UV light and the curing strip to harden the resin. The applicator may still have some resin in it when stored, this will still be there when you come to use the applicator next time.
How long does a normal UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair take?
Most repairs will take between 30mins to 1hr. Some may take as little as 20mins, but the key to a good repair is not to cure the resin in the sunlight until all of the dark colour (air) is gone from the damage. The applicator can be left on a damaged area for as long as it takes to fix the damage. It is even possible to leave the applicator on overnight if needed, as the resin will never harden without the curing strip and UV light (sunlight).
How many repairs will I get out of each Kit?
On average each kit will fix 3-4 different types of chip or crack damages. The amount of repairs per kit will depend on how much resin is used per repair. In each kit there is enough resin to approximately fix up to a 30cm long crack.
How soon after a damage occurs do I need to use the repair kit?
The sooner you can repair any type of windscreen damage the better, this prevents the damage from getting any larger. Any damage, no matter how old, can be fixed. Even if there is contamination from dirt and dust, a repair can be completed. As most dirt particles you would find in your windscreen damage area are so minute, you will struggle to see them once the repair is completed. Another added benefit of the repair is the fact that it will strengthen your windscreen and stop the damage from spreading.
Is UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair Kit a temporary repair?
No, this is a permanent repair. The resin, once set, is stronger than the glass so it will stop the damage from spreading and restore your windscreen to its original strength. This is a DiY version of what you would see the professional windscreen repairers use to repair windscreens.

Will UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair Kit work on any glass?
NO, it is however true that UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair Kit™ will bond any glass together, but, you need a number of factors to be evident for a successful repair. UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair Kit™ is designed for laminated glass, as to laminated glass has 2 lavers, it is able to be manipulated to get the resin to penetrate deep into the damage. On a single sheet of glass, this manipulation would generally shatter the glass. UV light (sunlight) is also required as a final stage of the repair process, on anything other than a windscreen this may not be possible.
Will UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair Kit work on my windscreen?
Yes, all modern cars produced since the 1970's have laminated glass as there windscreen. UFIXIT DiY Windscreen Repair Kit™ will fix any laminated screen, even if it has sensors, as you will find in a lot of the more modern cars. Doing a repair will not affect these sensors.
Will the Windscreen Repair Kit stop the damage from spreading?
Yes, the resin (once set) is stronger than the glass, so it will stop the damage from spreading, restoring your windscreen to its original strength.
Will you be able to see the damage after using the repair kit?
If you have removed all of the air from the damage, (the air usually looks like a dark colouring in the glass), then after the repair is complete, you should not be able to see the damage in the windscreen. The resin has the same opaque and refractive value as the glass, making the damage near invisible. In some cases, usually with heavier cracks or chips, you may be left with a minute white mark where the impact point was.
How long does the resin last?
The repair in the windscreen is permanent, the resin in the bottle will last up to 5 years opened or unopened. You can store the kits in your car as the resin is not affected by temperature, so the extreme temperatures reached inside your vehicle will have no effect on the resin.
To loosen wheel nut.
Attach UFIXIT Tyre Ratchet using the correct size socket to the wheel nut so that the handle is on top of the stabilizing lever and is on the right hand side of the tyre as you are facing the wheel.
Place right foot at the bottom of the stabilizing lever of the Tyre Ratchet.
Pull up on the handle lever of the Tyre Ratchet until the handle is nearly vertical.
Lower the handle lever down to your foot resting on the stabilizing bar until you hear a click as the ratchet engages.
Pull up again until vertical.
Repeat this 4-6 times to release the tension on the nut.
After removing you foot from the stabilizer bar, lower the handle lever until it is touching the stabilizer bar.
Then hold both levers of the Tyre ratchet and then use them like a standard ratchet until wheel nut is removed.
Swap the socket over to the other side of the drive bolt on the Tyre Ratchet so that you are now able to tighten the wheel nut.
Only tighten the wheel nut using both levers together using the ratchet system.
There is no need to place you foot on the bottom of the stabilizing lever as this will over tighten the wheel nut.
